Workshops in Life drawing and painting.

In addition to my career as a professional artist, I run a small number of workshops in life drawing and painting. I also visit other workshops to demonstrate and teach.

Participants have travelled from all over the UK and even from Western Australia. They range from novices, looking for a route in, to experienced, post graduate artists looking to extend their experience of painting the human form. Much of the tuition is on a one to one basis and is geared to the individual participant. I also demonstrate to the whole group as appropriate.

The workshops are usually over 3 days, often consecutive to suit those from further afield. They run from 10am - 4pm with an hour for lunch. The same pose will be used for a large part of each day, allowing time to develop a piece of work. Participants are free to use any medium they choose, (oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolour) and are encouraged to experiment. The sessions are intense but with a friendly, supportive and relaxed atmosphere.

The workshops are held at the Beacon in Hastings. This is an impressive Victorian property with large grounds that offer sweeping views over Hastings and the sea as far as Beachy Head. The studio is equipped with easels and boards. Paper can be bought during the sessions. For a map and more information about the Beacon, visit their website:
